The Stony Brook School Rocketry Team participates in STEM outreach events at the Emma S. Clark Library, bringing hands-on science and engineering activities to the local community. Young learners have the opportunity to explore the principles of rocketry by building and decorating small model rockets with guidance from BrookX team members. Participants can then test and launch their creations, gaining a firsthand introduction to aerospace engineering. These outreach events allow BrookX to share its passion for STEM while encouraging creativity, curiosity, and an interest in science and engineering among younger students.

Long Island Maker Faire @ SBU
The Stony Brook School Rocketry and Robotics Team participates in Long Island Maker Faires to share the excitement of STEM with the local community. At these events, visitors of all ages can take part in hands-on activities, explore rocketry and robotics demonstrations, and interact with projects developed by team members. Through learning about concepts of programming and rocketry attendees are introduced to engineering concepts in an engaging and accessible way. These Maker Faires give BrookX the opportunity to encourage creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration while inspiring young people to explore science, technology, engineering, and robotics.

Rocketry Summer Institute @ SBU
The Stony Brook School Rocketry hosted the BrookX Summer Institute, welcoming students from Taiwan to SBS for a hands-on introduction to rocketry and engineering. Throughout the program, students learn the fundamentals of rocket design, construction, and launch while working alongside BrookX members on practical activities and projects. The institute gives students the opportunity to apply engineering concepts, develop problem-solving skills, and experience the process of turning a design into a working rocket. By bringing students together through a shared interest in STEM, the BrookX Summer Institute also creates opportunities for collaboration and cultural exchange between students from SBS and Taiwan.

Rocketry in Central Park
On August 29, 2026, the BrookX Rocketry Team traveled to Central Park in New York City to share their passion for rocketry and STEM with the community. Team members introduced visitors to the engineering behind model rockets and shared their experiences designing, building, and launching rockets for national competitions. The event gave BrookX an opportunity to bring hands-on STEM education beyond the classroom and connect with people of different ages and backgrounds. Through events like this, BrookX hopes to make engineering more accessible and encourage younger students to explore rocketry, robotics, and STEM.
